Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for procedures
- Assist the dentist during pediatric dental treatments, including exams, cleanings, X-rays, oral surgeries, and restorative procedures
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as digital X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems using Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote lifelong dental health
- Monitor vital signs and medical history documentation to ensure patient safety throughout visits
- Follow strict infection control procedures including dental sterilization processes, aseptic techniques, and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry practices
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures specific to pediatric dentistry
- Experience with dental equipment operation such as dental x-ray units, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners
- Familiarity with patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and their families to ease anxiety and foster trust
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards including proper sterilization procedures and infection prevention management
- Understanding of medical documentation standards and medical records management in compliance with HIPAA regulations
