Job Summary
We are a growing law firm seeking a dynamic and dedicated Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing workers' compensation claims, providing expert legal counsel, and advocating for clients involved in workplace injury cases. Duties
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claims from inception through resolution, including investigation, negotiation, and litigation if necessary
- Provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients regarding their rights and obligations under Illinois workers' compensation laws
- Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements
- Conduct court depositions, witness interviews, and participate in hearings or trials to advocate for clients effectively
- Collaborate with medical professionals, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders to evaluate claims and develop case strategies
- Perform statutory legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case development
- Draft contracts, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence with clarity and precision
- Maintain meticulous case management records and ensure compliance with procedural law requirements
- Engage in negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes for clients while maintaining professionalism and ethical standards
- Stay updated on developments in workers' compensation law
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership in relevant jurisdiction(s)
- Proven experience in Plaintiff workers' compensation law with a strong understanding of procedural laws and court depositions
- Demonstrated expertise in personal injury case management and litigation strategies
- Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis for statutory and case law analysis
- Strong negotiation abilities coupled with effective legal advocacy skills
- Proficiency in legal drafting—including motions, pleadings, contracts—and trial preparation techniques
- Exceptional writing skills for clear legal research reports, motions, and client communications
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently using legal case management systems
- Effective client communication skills with a focus on transparency and professionalism
- Legal administrative experience that supports efficient workflow within a busy law office environment

PAY REQUIREMENTS: Pay structure are determined based on skill level, location and years of experience and the ability to hit the ground running based on that experience. Salary averages between $96,900 and $179,269 annually and is determined by the firm owner based on the criteria above. Pay will either be a set salary or salary with bonus percentage based on contingency fees from settlements.
