Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in menu planning by preparing daily specials and ensuring ingredient availability
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, stoves, ovens, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality of all prepared items
- Support the kitchen team by communicating effectively with chefs and other staff to coordinate meal preparation
- Adhere strictly to recipe guidelines and portion control to ensure consistency across all dishes
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or dietary departments is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of food safety management and sanitation standards
- Demonstrated knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient prep work
- Experience with meal preparation, cooking techniques, and operating commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow detailed recipes accurately while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff
- Knowledge of dietary aide practices or dietary department experience is a plus but not required
