The Department of Chemistry is seeking a part-time Lecturer to support undergraduate student learning through instruction in General and Analytical Chemistry courses during the Fall 2026 semester. In this role, you will provide engaging classroom and laboratory instruction, guide students through foundational and advanced chemistry concepts, and contribute to a learning environment that supports student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver lecture and laboratory-based instruction for undergraduate General and Analytical Chemistry courses.
- Manage all aspects of assigned courses, including course administration, instructional planning, and coordination of course activities.
- Foster student engagement and support learning through effective classroom and laboratory instruction.
- Develop, administer, and evaluate student assessments, including examinations and grading.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of teaching assistants.
- Plan and facilitate problem-solving session activities to enhance student understanding of course material.
Courses may include:
Chemistry – A Molecular Science
Course Description: A fundamental study of molecular bonding, structure, and reactivity. Principles of atomic structure, ionic and covalent bonding, reaction energetics, intermolecular forces, precipitation reactions, acid/base reactions, oxidation/reduction processes, and introductions to organic and inorganic chemistry.
CH 316 – Quantitative Analysis Laboratory
Course Description: Practical utilization of spectrochemical and electrochemical techniques, alongside volumetric and chromatographic analytical methodologies, to identify and determine the quantity of various mixture constituents.
CH 415 – Analytical Chemistry II
Course Description: An examination of quantitative analytical techniques utilizing electronic instrumentation. Topics include signal electronics, atomic and surface spectroscopy, infrared/Raman methods, and x-ray fluorescence. Additional coverage includes voltammetry, gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, chemical transducers, and the application of statistical data processing.
