Schedule: Days, 10 Hour Shifts, 7am start time
Position Summary
Provides circulating and/or recovery room nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures. Assists surgical team as needed in any other capacity, according to established procedures.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care activities utilizing principles of growth and development, and adjusts these processes as indicated, to ensure optimal care.
Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
Assists other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines.
Coordinates recovery room with cath lab, cardiac care units, other nursing units, and other hospital departments.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort, privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care activities utilizing principles of growth and development, and adjusts these processes as indicated, to ensure optimal care of the surgical patient
Ensures accurate maintenance of patients’ medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objective and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Stimulates a positive spirit through personal example and motivation.
Motivates others to improve by taking pride in own actions & goals of Tahlequah City Hospital.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Associate Degree/Diploma
Minimum Experience - Recent cath lab experience; ICU or other critical care area.
Required Certification/Registration - Current Okla. RN license and BLS certification. ACLS certification within 6 months
Preferred Education - Bachelor Degree in Nursing
