Surgery Scheduler Job Summary
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all aspects of scheduling surgical and interventional radiology procedures according to surgery center policy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Accurately schedule surgical and interventional radiology cases utilizing surgical scheduling software according to set parameters
- Accurately enters patient information into surgical software including, demographics, insurance, procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and case needs
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to accommodate getting surgical cases on the schedule and provide the requested start time
- Produce and distribute daily schedules
- Collaborate with medical and administrative team regarding placement of cases on the surgery schedule
- Coordinate changes in the surgical schedule with affected parties
- Coordinate with physician office, medical team, material management, and outside vendors to assure all necessary equipment is available for the scheduled case
- Provide excellent customer service for patients, families, vendors, and physician
- Act as a resource to resolve room availability/scheduling conflicts
- Requests required medical records from physician offices
- Sends, receives, and routes incoming/outgoing faxes
- Investigates discrepancies in non-routine situations
- Assists with other business office tasks as needed
- Serve as registrar in times of needInput patient information in electronic medical record
Verify insurance information
Collect payments and keep accurate payment records
Answer phones and direct to meet customers’ needs
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years’ experience in outpatient surgery scheduling preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience
- Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, families, staff, physicians, and all levels of employees
- Ability to effectively contribute as a team member promoting cooperation, collaboration and flexibility in working with others to achieve quality patient care
- Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, security and standards of ethics with all information

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.35 - $21.00 per hour
