We are looking for a dedicated professional like you to be a part of our Laboratory team as a Full Time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP).
This position works the 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. shift.
Our Laboratory Department provides a broad range of services to aid in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions and emergent injuries. A few responsibilities of our MLS/MLT include:
- Adequate and satisfactory specimen collection
- DOT/NON-DOT urine collection
- CLIA waived testing
- Patient identification
- Able to interpret provider orders/diagnosis
- Responsible for courier duties between facilities
- Consistently deliver excellent patient experiences, maintaining a positive demeanor toward patients and the public; proactively addresses situations of concern to others
- Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations including HIPAA and with HCHD policies/procedures
- Identifies problems or improvements within own area of work; develops resourceful and alterative solutions for work improvement or problem solving
- Documents all activities as completely as necessary and required
- Completes other duties as assigned

Education/Licensure/Certifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP) CLS certification (current credentials)/training (ASCP- -AMT CERTIFICATION ALSO IS ACCEPTABLE)

Current/active State-issued driver license and clear motor vehicle report

Effective communication skills (bilingual English-Spanish preferred)

Proficient use of PC and Microsoft Office Suite software

Prior work experience using electronic health/medical record-keeping system (EHR/EMR)

Minimum
High School Diploma
Associate degree in Medial Laboratory Technology or approved based on experience.
Registered by ASCP or AMT.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university.
Work Experience
Minimum
Training in laboratory procedures and use of appropriate equipment.
Knowledge of medical laboratory collection, testing, and use of equipment.
Preferred
Minimum one year of medical laboratory experience.
Licenses & Certifications

BLS certification
Maintain current MLT certification through ASCP or AMT.
