Part-Time Powersports Mechanic – Polaris/Slingshot Experience RequiredJob Overview
Houston Slingshot Rental is seeking an experienced and dependable Part-Time Powersports Mechanic to help maintain and repair our fleet of Polaris Slingshots.
This position is ideal for an experienced technician looking for flexible part-time work. The schedule will generally be 10–20 hours per week and can be arranged around your availability, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Applicants must have previous hands-on experience working on Polaris powersports products. Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Polaris Slingshots is strongly preferred. This is not an entry-level training position—we are looking for someone who can diagnose problems accurately, complete repairs efficiently, and work independently.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Polaris Slingshots.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, braking, steering, suspension, cooling, and drivetrain issues.
- Complete oil changes, fluid services, brake repairs, tire replacements, battery replacements, and other preventive maintenance.
- Inspect vehicles before and after rentals to identify safety or maintenance concerns.
- Troubleshoot warning lights, fault codes, electrical problems, and drivability issues.
- Perform repairs according to Polaris specifications and proper safety procedures.
- Test-drive vehicles when necessary to confirm repairs and proper operation.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, parts used, and completed repairs.
- Notify management when additional parts or repairs are needed.
- Keep the work area, tools, parts, and equipment clean and organized.
- Help ensure every vehicle is safe, reliable, clean, and ready for the next customer.
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional or substantial hands-on experience working on Polaris powersports products.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, service manuals, and standard shop tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and complete repairs without constant supervision.
- Dependable, organized, and able to communicate clearly about repairs and parts needed.
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and work in a shop environment.
- Ability to reliably work between 10 and 20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience repairing and maintaining Polaris Slingshots.
- Polaris dealership, powersports dealership, rental-fleet, motorcycle, ATV, or UTV technician experience.
- Experience with Polaris diagnostic software and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience maintaining a fleet of rental or commercial vehicles.
- Personal set of mechanic’s tools.
Schedule
- Part-time: approximately 10–20 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling
- Weekday, evening, and weekend hours are available
- Schedule can be arranged based on the technician’s availability and the needs of the fleet
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, skill level, and ability to independently diagnose and repair Polaris Slingshots.
