Offshore Paramedic – Deep Sea Industrial Fishing Vessels
Independent Contract: $300/day + Season Completion Bonus ($2,000)
About the Role
VIKAND is seeking experienced and highly capable Offshore Paramedics to serve as the sole medical provider onboard deep-sea, industrial fishing vessels operating in the Bering Sea and waters off Alaska. This is a rugged, high-performance role suited for medics who thrive in challenging environments and want a unique, adventurous professional opportunity.
You will live and work onboard for 3-4 months, providing medical care to crew members in an austere setting. While you function as the primary onboard medic, you will have 24/7 telemedicine support from VIKAND’s shoreside clinical team.
Contract Details
- Contract Start: June 2026 – arrive in Seattle/Dutch Harbor for deployment
- Contract End: Approx. End of Sep / Early Oct 2026
- Job Type: Independent Contractor (3-4 months onboard)
- Compensation:
- $330/day (approx. $9,900/month)
- Season Completion Bonus: $2,000 paid at the end of the season/contract
What You’ll Do
- Act as the primary medical provider onboard a commercial fishing vessel
- Deliver emergency, trauma, and general medical care
- Manage medical supplies, documentation, and daily health monitoring
- Collaborate with shoreside medical support via 24/7 telemedicine
- Provide proactive wellness, safety, and injury-prevention guidance to crew
- Work long hours in a physically demanding maritime environment

Required Certifications & Licenses
- State-licensed Paramedic (in good standing)
- National Registry Paramedic (NREMT-P)
- PHTLS or equivalent (ITLS, ATLS, TCCC, TECC)
- ACLS – American Heart Association
- BLS – American Heart Association
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years working as a paramedic
- Strong trauma care experience
- Suturing training (experience preferred)
- Experience in austere, maritime, or industrial/oil & gas settings preferred
- Prior military medical training strongly valued:
- Navy Independent Duty Corpsman (NEC 8425)
- Special Forces Medic (18D)
- Or similar advanced field medical credentials
