Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Wrecker Operator with a Class A CDL to join our team. This role involves operating commercial tow trucks, including flatbeds and wreckers, to assist with vehicle recovery and transportation. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, automotive diagnostics skills, and experience with automotive repair. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty tow trucks, including flatbeds and wreckers, to recover and transport vehicles safely and efficiently
- Perform automotive diagnostics and basic repairs as needed to assess vehicle condition before towing
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or winches
- Manage vehicle recovery operations in various conditions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients during recovery processes
- Maintain the cleanliness and routine inspection of tow trucks and related equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform minor repairs or coordinate repairs with mechanics
- Manage conflict situations professionally when dealing with distressed customers or challenging recovery scenarios
Experience
- Prior experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, or wreckers is highly preferred
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repairs is advantageous
- Experience with manual transmissions and commercial driving is required for safe operation of heavy-duty vehicles
- Familiarity with automotive repair tools and diagnostic equipment is a plus
- Previous work involving conflict management, customer service, load & unload operations, or forklift operation will be considered favorably
- Valid CDL Class A license is mandatory for this role
- Candidates with mechanic experience or background in automotive diagnostics will have an edge in handling complex recovery situations
