Senior Tax Associate – Flow Through Entity Specialist
Remote (U.S.)
$100,000 - $105,000 + Profit Share + Bonus
There comes a point in public accounting where you've learnt the technical side of the job. The next challenge isn't preparing another tax return. It's finding a firm where the quality of the work matches the quality of the people around you.
If you've built your career around S Corporations and Partnerships and enjoy the technical side of flow through taxation, this opportunity is worth a closer look. Not because it's fully remote. Most firms can offer that now. It's because they've been incredibly deliberate about what they've built, who they hire and the clients they choose to work with. The result is a specialist tax practice where quality has always mattered more than quantity.
Why they're hiring
This isn't a replacement. It's a long-term investment.
The firm continues to grow, but they're determined not to lose the culture that's made them successful in the first place. Rather than waiting until workloads become overwhelming, leadership has chosen to strengthen the team now. It's a proactive approach that gives people the time to settle in properly, protects the existing team and ensures clients continue receiving the level of service they've come to expect.
That says a lot about how the business is run.
They're selective about the clients they work with because they know the wrong clients create the wrong culture. They're equally selective about the people they hire. This isn't about filling seats. It's about finding a CPA who enjoys technically challenging work, values long-term relationships and wants to become part of a firm that's recognised for the quality of its advice.
What makes this opportunity different?
One thing stood out immediately when I spoke with the leadership team. This isn't a firm trying to be everything to everyone.
Instead, they've built specialist tax teams that allow people to become genuine experts in what they do. This opportunity sits within the firm's dedicated Flow Through Entity team, focusing on S Corporations and Partnerships, while a separate specialist group looks after Corporate Tax. It means you'll spend your time developing deeper expertise rather than constantly switching between completely different areas of tax.
The client base reflects that same philosophy. The work combines compliance, consulting and planning, but the conversations go well beyond filing deadlines. Clients rely on the team because they want advice before making important business decisions, not simply someone to prepare returns once a year. It's the sort of work that keeps experienced tax professionals interested long after they've mastered the technical side of the role.
Remote without feeling remote
Remote working isn't treated as a perk here. It's simply part of how the business operates.
The firm already has people working successfully from several different states, and whether you're based in Colorado or on the other side of the country, you're part of the same team. There are no different expectations for remote employees and no pressure to be seen for the sake of being seen. What matters is the quality of your work, the relationships you build and the value you bring to clients.
Twice a year, everyone comes together with flights, hotels and travel covered by the firm. It's a simple idea, but an effective one. You get the flexibility that remote working brings without losing the relationships that make working in a great team enjoyable.
A different way of measuring success
One of my favourite things about this firm is what they don't measure.
There are no billable hour targets and no obsession with chargeable time. Success is measured by the quality of your thinking, the advice you provide and the relationships you build with clients. When I asked the leadership team how they described their philosophy, one comment really stuck with me: "AI is actual intelligence."
In other words, technology should help accountants do better work. It should never replace good judgement, commercial thinking or trusted client relationships. It's a refreshing mindset in a profession that's changing quickly.
The practical bits
Alongside a salary of around $100,000 to $105,000, you'll also receive:
- Around 10% of firm profits shared with employees
- Profit share paid twice a year
- Additional performance bonus opportunities
- $1,250 monthly healthcare allowance, with any unused amount paid as additional compensation
- Company 401(k) contribution of around 4-5%
- Fully remote, hybrid or office-based working
- Busy season generally capped at around 55 hours
- All travel covered for twice-yearly company gatherings
Who tends to thrive here?
Usually someone who enjoys solving complex tax problems and building long-term client relationships rather than processing high volumes of routine compliance work. Someone who's naturally curious, enjoys working alongside other strong tax professionals and wants to be judged by the quality of their advice rather than the number of hours on a timesheet.
If that sounds like the sort of environment you've been looking for, I'd love to tell you more.
Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That’s fine. Apply the old fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I’ll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments.
I’m Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don’t just look at job specs. I look at people, and where they’ll thrive. It’s not about filling gaps. It’s about finding a fit that lasts.
Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don’t slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
