Position Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to carry out treatment plans designed to restore function, relieve pain, improve mobility, and prevent disability in patients with physical impairments or movement dysfunctions. The PTA provides hands-on therapy services, monitors patient progress, and assists in maintaining accurate and timely documentation to ensure the highest quality of care.
Full-time or Part-time hours available, with a set schedule.
This is an IN-PERSON position only. We currently do not have any remote positions available. We are unable to provide relocation assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist to improve patient strength, mobility, and independence.
- Instruct and assist patients in therapeutic exercises, activities, and use of assistive equipment.
- Observe, record, and report patient responses, progress, and performance to the supervising PT.
- Assist in educating patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe movement techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in the therapy environment.
- Document patient treatment sessions and outcomes in accordance with facility, state, and federal standards.
- Collaborate with the therapy team to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Expectations:
- Deliver safe and effective physical therapy treatments as outlined by the supervising PT.
- Use appropriate therapeutic exercises, techniques, and modalities to improve patient function and mobility.
- Observe and document patient progress, responses, and any changes in condition accurately and promptly.
- Provide patient and caregiver education on home exercises, safety, and proper use of assistive devices.
- Encourage patient engagement and adherence to therapy goals through positive reinforcement and motivation.
- Maintain consistent communication with the supervising PT regarding patient status and progress.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all state licensure requirements and the standards of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policy.
- Follow direction from supervising PTs while demonstrating initiative and clinical judgment within the PTA scope of practice.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment.
- Inspect and properly use equipment in accordance with safety standards.
- Report all incidents, hazards, and patient concerns immediately.
- Ensure compliance with all facility, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
- Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance clinical knowledge.
- Stay informed about advancements in physical therapy techniques, technology, and research.
- Contribute to a culture of learning by supporting students, new staff, or team education initiatives.
- Demonstrate openness to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate reliability in attendance, punctuality, and task completion.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Preferred).
- Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license (Required)
- Proven work experience as a physical therapy assistant
- Intensive education and clinical expertise
- Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities
- Current knowledge of treatment practices
Work Environment:
- Services may be provided in clinics, and/or school settings
- May involve physical activity and behavioral interventions requiring quick response and safety awareness.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and move quickly to keep pace with clients during sessions.
- Ability to lift or physically support clients as necessary.
- Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques as trained.
Pay: $27.50 - $30.00 per hour
