Job Description
Position Summary
The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring domestic and international shipments that support on-time customer delivery and efficient shipment processing. The position works closely with distribution, pack center, warehouse, customer service, carriers, freight forwarders, and other cross-functional teams to resolve shipment issues, address capacity constraints, and maintain continuity of distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities

Create, manage, monitor, and maintain transportation units within applicable logistics and enterprise systems.

Coordinate truckload and less-than-truckload shipments based on order requirements, delivery commitments, equipment needs, and shipment capacity availability.

Review and process customer and shipment orders in SAP ECC / EWM, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and ready for execution.

Prepare, review, and validate export documentation in accordance with international shipping requirements and internal procedures.

Schedule freight pickups with carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation service providers.

Plan and coordinate shipment consolidation opportunities to improve trailer utilization, reduce transportation costs, and increase operational efficiency.

Load as required.

Support compliance with international shipping, export, customs, and documentation requirements.

Coordinate crating, packaging, and special-handling activities to ensure products are prepared for safe and compliant transportation.

Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, order-processing issues, documentation errors, and delivery-related exceptions.

Communicate shipment status, risks, and recovery actions to internal stakeholders and external logistics partners.

Support pack center backlog recovery by prioritizing activities and coordinating resources to restore normal workflow.

Coordinate expedited and priority shipments to meet urgent customer requirements and critical delivery commitments.

Maintain accurate shipment documentation, system updates, and operational tracking information.

Escalate material risks, compliance concerns, and service failures to the appropriate stakeholders.

Participate in logistics process-improvement initiatives focused on service performance, trailer utilization, operational cost reduction, and reliability.

Perform additional transportation, distribution, and logistics duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

2 years of experience in distribution, supply chain, logistics, transportation, or a related field is required.

Working knowledge of transportation documentation, shipment planning, and freight pickup processes is preferred.

Familiarity with export documentation and international shipping requirements is preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong coordination and shipment-planning skills.

PIT / Fork Truck experience.

Ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and time-sensitive requirements simultaneously.

Strong attention to detail when reviewing orders, export documents, shipment records, and system transactions.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to troubleshoot transportation delays, capacity limitations, order discrepancies, and workflow disruptions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with warehouse, distribution, customer service, compliance, planning, and logistics teams.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a warehouse, distribution, and shipping environment.

The role may require regular interaction with warehouse operations, loading areas, packaging stations, and transportation staging locations.

Flexibility may be required to support shipment cutoffs, expedited requests, month-end activity, operational disruptions, or peak shipping periods.

The position may require extended periods of computer-based work along with standing or walking within operational areas.
