Reliance Clothing is looking for a full-time Boutique Store Lead to join our team in Burlingame. This is a keyholder-level role for someone who loves customer service, takes pride in creating a beautiful store experience, and can confidently help lead the shop day to day.
Above all, this role is about helping grow sales. We are looking for someone who understands that great service, strong client relationships, thoughtful follow-up, and consistent outreach all play a direct role in driving the business.
This person will work directly with the owner and support sales, styling, client relationships, store operations, merchandising, order fulfillment, and special services like embroidery and permanent jewelry.
Because we are an owner-operated business, this role requires flexibility and initiative. Some days are busy and customer-facing from start to finish; other days require outreach, merchandising, operations, or project-based work to keep the store moving.
About the Role
This is not a passive retail role. We need someone who is excited to build relationships with customers, create repeat business, and help bring people into the store.
Solo coverage is part of the role, including opening, closing, assisting customers, fulfilling orders, and making sound decisions independently. Training will be provided for embroidery and permanent jewelry services.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the store independently
- Run the sales floor confidently during solo shifts
- Welcome, style, and assist customers in a personal and thoughtful way
- Ring sales, process returns/exchanges, and handle customer service needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment
- Take an active role in meeting sales goals and driving business
- Develop and maintain a book of customers through clienteling and follow-up
- Reach out to customers through calls, texts, or emails when appropriate
- Make personalized product recommendations that encourage repeat visits
- Support events, promotions, and customer outreach
- Receive shipments, pull replenishment, and keep the floor stocked
- Support visual merchandising, store resets, and backstock organization
- Ship online orders and assist with order fulfillment
- Create and update product listings, images, purchase orders, and website/POS information as needed
- Assist with Shopify, inventory, and light admin tasks related to store operations
- Learn and support embroidery and permanent jewelry services once trained
- Remain present, engaged, and proactive on the sales floor during shifts
- Be comfortable participating in Reliance social media content, such as styling videos, try-ons, product features, behind-the-scenes content, and store updates

Retail sales, customer service, styling, hospitality, or other client-facing sales experience is required. Boutique fashion, embroidery, or permanent jewelry experience is a plus, but not required.
Requirements
- Must have previous sales, retail, customer service, hospitality, or other client-facing sales experience
- Must be available 32–40 hours per week
- Weekend availability is required
- Must be available for opening and closing shifts
- Availability during key retail seasons and holidays is required
- Must be comfortable working solo shifts
- Must be able to stand and walk for most shifts
- Must be able to lift and move boxes up to approximately 50 pounds
- Must be willing to learn embroidery and permanent jewelry services once trained
- Must be willing to participate in social media content as part of the store’s marketing and customer outreach
Compensation & Benefits
$24–$30/hour, depending on experience
