We are seeking an experienced Accounting Director who is as passionate about developing people as they are about accounting. Location: Hybrid (3 days in our San Ramon office, 2 days remote)
Salary: $90,000–$100,000 annually (DOE)

Your Impact
The Accounting Director is responsible for leading, developing, and strengthening the accounting department while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations.
Success in this role is measured not only by accurate financial reporting, but by your ability to build an engaged, accountable, and high-performing team.
You will create an environment where employees are coached, supported, challenged, and developed while continuously improving departmental processes, communication, and service levels.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop an accounting team that is engaged, collaborative, and accountable.
- Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork, continuous learning, professional growth, and exceptional customer service.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and hold team members accountable for performance and results.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop employees while identifying future leaders within the department.
- Build trust through open communication, transparency, and consistency.
- Delegate effectively while empowering team members to take ownership of their responsibilities.
- Manage workload distribution and staffing priorities to ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Partner with senior leadership to support organizational goals and help scale the accounting department as the company continues to grow.
- Lead change initiatives and help employees successfully adapt to new systems, processes, and business needs.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify workflows, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve team performance.
Accounting & Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure timely, accurate completion of departmental responsibilities.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Review accounting processes and implement best practices that improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Analyze financial information and departmental metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with cross-functional departments to improve communication and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
- Lead special projects and initiatives that support the continued growth of the organization.
- Maintain a high level of customer service for both internal and external clients.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Progressive accounting leadership experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and developing employees.
- Demonstrated success building engaged, high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Proven ability to improve processes, increase efficiency, and lead organizational change.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence, motivate, and hold others accountable while maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Office.
