Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and intake interviews utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions incorporating modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis management strategies for patients experiencing acute mental health crises or trauma, including PTSD care and grief counseling.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical research findings and best practices in behavioral health.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously within HIPAA-compliant medical records systems, ensuring accuracy in medical terminology and coding such as CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, especially for patients with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or chronic pain conditions.
- Engage in telehealth sessions when appropriate, providing accessible mental health care across various settings while maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
Skills
- Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and behavior management.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and medical documentation purposes.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
- Skilled in crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to support patients during emergencies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health counseling; adept at managing medical records securely under HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to conduct intake assessments effectively while utilizing research-based approaches for patient evaluation.
- Competence in delivering outpatient services across clinic settings with experience in inpatient environments preferred.
- Knowledge of telehealth platforms combined with excellent communication skills to provide engaging virtual care sessions.
- Experience working within special education or pediatric settings is a plus; familiarity with ICD coding for billing is essential.
