James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn seeks part-time Program Specialists who will be responsible for providing content-specific programming at our Main Clubhouse site. These individuals will join a motivated, dedicated team of professionals delivering a broad range of activities for youth and teens, ages 8-18, which promote healthy lifestyles, academic success, and good character & leadership.
Program Specialists work Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during our school year program.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Assist and lead the delivery of content-specific programs, activities and events as directed by the Program Director.
- Assist the full-time program staff in establishing and maintaining a setting that ensures the health and safety of all members.
- Supervise and instruct members participating in programs and activities within the program area as well as throughout the Clubhouse as deemed appropriate
- Ensure the members actively participate in a variety of programs/activities, seek guidance from staff when necessary, and feel welcome at the Clubhouse
Prepare Members for Success
- Establish program objectives that are consistent with organizational goals and mission.
- Support and maintain programs that engage members socially, culturally, communally, and intellectually and reflect the diversity of Club life.
- Plan and implement day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
- Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun, engaging activities each day.
Supervise Program Space
- Create and maintain, in collaboration with the youth, a culture of respect within the programs and program space.
- Manage and enforce effective guidance & discipline policies.
- Ensure that the program area is safe, both physically and emotionally for all members.
Knowledge/Skills Required
- High school or equivalent required.
- 1 year of youth work preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desire to work with young people, ages 8-18, in a variety of environments including one-to-one, small group, and large group settings
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
