Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient service. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient care processes, and familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage patient intake processes, including collecting necessary information and verifying insurance details.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic calendar efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records in EHR systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist with the administration of vital signs and basic life support as needed.
- Provide support for medical staff by preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
- Handle incoming calls, addressing inquiries or directing them to appropriate personnel.
- Process medical coding (ICD coding) for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care across various departments such as dermatology, urgent care, and internal medicine.
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in patient interactions effectively.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical administrative support role is preferred; experience in hospital medicine or urgent care is a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology is essential.
- Knowledge of vital signs assessment and basic life support certification is desirable.
- Understanding of various medical specialties including geriatrics, emergency medicine, outpatient care, and internal medicine is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Experience in clinic settings or trauma centers (Level I or II) is advantageous.
