Organization Description
The Housing & Homeless Coalition of Central New York (HHC) is a non-profit organization working to reducing, preventing, and ultimately ending homelessness in Central New York. The HHC acts as the Collaborative Applicant, Homeless Management Information System and Coordinated Entry Lead for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC) for Onondaga, Cayuga, and Oswego counties.
Primary Objective
The Housing Outreach Specialist will operate housing support activities on behalf of the CNY CHANCE project. CHANCE, or Centralized Housing Assistance and Network for Community Engagement, is an initiative to centralize housing services including but not limited to property owner/manager engagement, implementation of an affordable housing database, and the facilitation of increased exits to safe, affordable housing for people experiencing homelessness.
Overall Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach to recruit new property owners, property managers, and leasing agents across Onondaga County through phone, email, in-person meetings, property visits, and community events to expand partnerships with the housing listing platform.
- Establish and maintain relationships with current property partners to ensure the housing listing platform remains a real-time resource for coalition members.
- Collaborate with program staff to support placement goals by coordinating property viewings with housing partners for eligible clients.
- Coordinate with community partners, including the Health Department and Code Enforcement, to ensure available units meet requirements and are appropriate for listing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountability: Housing Services Coordinator
FLSA: Non-exempt, full time, 37.5 hours/week
Salary Range: $26/hr to $30/hr
Position Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree and experience working in housing and homelessness programming preferred.
· Experience working with leasing, property management, and/or real estate is required.
· Experience and demonstrated skills in organization and management of multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
· Proven ability to work with individuals from all levels and backgrounds; recognizes and values diversity; process information with consideration for cultural sensitivities.
· Proficient with MS Windows Office Suite; must have the ability to learn new and/or customized software.
· Ability to work with flexibility and independence.
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
