B&B Signal Company, LLC, a full-service traffic signal and conduit installation company for over 20 years is seeking a qualified Yard/Warehouse helper. The Yard/Warehouse Helper is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the warehouse, equipment yard, and mechanic shop. This position ensures materials, tools, and equipment are received, organized, and readily available for field crews while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, and willing to assist wherever needed.
Essential Functions:
· Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming material deliveries.
· Organize, label, and stock materials and inventory by job number in the warehouse and yard.
· Prepare, stage, and load materials for delivery to construction job sites.
· Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training/certification provided as required).
· Drive company vehicles to deliver materials, tools, and equipment to job sites as needed.
· Maintain a clean driving record to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
· Assist mechanics by organizing parts, maintaining shop cleanliness, and supporting shop operations.
· Perform general yard maintenance, including keeping storage areas organized, removing debris, and maintaining equipment storage.
· Fuel company vehicles and equipment stored in the yard to ensure they are ready for use.
· Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
· Load and unload trucks using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
· Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Previous warehouse, construction, or yard labor experience preferred.
· Forklift experience or ability to obtain forklift certification.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· Basic knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment is a plus.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach overhead.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Enter and exit trucks, forklifts, and construction equipment repeatedly throughout the day.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and uneven terrain.
- Possess sufficient vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination to safely perform warehouse and yard duties.
- Perform repetitive movements involving lifting, carrying, and handling construction materials.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing.
- Maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform manual labor throughout a standard work shift.
Work Environment
This position works in a combination of warehouse, mechanic shop, equipment yard, and active construction environments. The role requires working around heavy equipment, moving vehicles, machinery, and construction materials while following all company safety policies and procedures. Overtime and occasional early morning or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
