Job Summary
Knowledgeable in correctly calculating wages based on hours worked and administer payments electronically or distribute paychecks, process taxes and payment of benefits, use payroll software accurately and efficiently, prepare reports, trustworthy with sensitive information, work with coworkers to gather and distribute payroll related information, resolve issues and answer payroll questions.
Duties
- Complete Payrolls
- Gather information on hours worked for each employee.
- Calculate the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with assistance of a computer system.
- Calculate payroll by hand, Excel spreadsheets or with a 10-key calculator when system is down.
- Prepare and execute pay orders through an electronic system or distribute paychecks.
- Administer statements of payment to personnel either electronically or on paper.
- Process taxes and payment of employee benefits.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Keep track of hour rates, wages, compensation, benefit rates, new hire information etc.
- Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors.
- Prepare reports for upper management, finance department etc.
- Prepare quarterly payroll and tax reports.
- Prepare annual W-2s for employees.
- Prepare workers’ compensation report if requested.
- Prepare unemployment correspondence if needed.
- Communicate directly with employees on various payroll issues.
- Processing employee wages, overtime, shift differentials, and bonuses according to union collective bargaining agreements.
- Administering benefit contributions, such as pension, health, apprenticeship, or training funds required by union agreements.
- Tracking hours worked under different union classifications or job codes.
- Preparing reports and payments to union benefit funds and other organizations.
- Ensuring compliance with labor contracts, tax laws, wage laws, and company policies.
- Reviews payroll when needed.
- Assist with special projects and companywide when needed

- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in Paychex
- Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field.

Physical Demands
- Use Phone and other office equipment throughout the day.
- Will sit approximately 7 hours a day.

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
