Don’t inherit a brand. Build one people cannot ignore.
Most marketing positions ask you to maintain someone else’s machine.
This one gives you the opportunity to build it.
Koussan Law is a boutique, high-value personal injury firm with serious ambitions. We are intentionally selective, fiercely committed to our clients, and preparing for our next stage of growth. We have the legal ability, client service, and drive. Now we are looking for the creative force who will make the market know it.
We are hiring our first Director of Brand, Creative & Growth; a rare, hands-on creative leader who can develop the big idea, design the campaign, produce the content, elevate the website, protect every detail of the brand, and connect outstanding creative work to measurable business growth.
This is not a content-scheduling position. It is not a role for someone whose portfolio consists primarily of templates, reposts, and trendy captions. It is also not a position for a manager who can only brief agencies but cannot personally produce exceptional work.
You must be both the thinker and the maker.
Your portfolio should make that obvious within minutes.
Your Mission
Make Koussan Law one of the most recognizable, trusted, and sought-after personal injury brands in Michigan; and build a sustainable marketing engine that generates more outstanding case opportunities than the firm can responsibly accept.
Your work should help move the firm from being one of Metro Detroit’s best-kept secrets to a name people know, remember, trust, and recommend.
What You Will Lead
The Koussan Law brand
You will transform our existing brand foundation into a complete, disciplined, and unmistakable brand system.
That includes our visual identity, voice, messaging, photography, typography, brand guidelines, stationery, business cards, signage, outdoor materials, presentations, client materials, apparel, event assets, and every other place the Koussan Law name appears.
Nothing should feel generic. Nothing should feel accidental.
Our website and digital experience
You will take ownership of the firm’s website as both a brand platform and a lead-generating asset.
You will guide or directly handle its strategy, architecture, design, copy, imagery, user experience, landing pages, conversion optimization, accessibility, mobile performance, search visibility, analytics, and ongoing maintenance.
You do not need to write every line of advanced back-end code. You do need enough technical fluency to build, improve, troubleshoot, direct developers, and hold outside vendors accountable.
Our in-house content studio
You will create original work that looks and feels dramatically better than typical law firm advertising.
You will develop concepts, write scripts, direct shoots, capture content, edit video, create motion graphics, produce photography, design campaign assets, write compelling copy, and adapt each idea intelligently across platforms.
One strong concept should be capable of becoming a long-form video, multiple short-form clips, a paid advertisement, a landing page, a social series, an email, and a community campaign.
Social media and audience growth
You will take command of the firm’s presence across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other channels where our future clients and referral partners spend time.
You will create a recognizable voice and a consistent publishing system without allowing the work to become repetitive or formulaic.
You understand that virality cannot be ordered on demand; but you know how to develop ideas with breakout potential, test hooks and formats, study audience behavior, recognize momentum, and turn winning concepts into repeatable series.
We want someone who has already created work that significantly outperformed expectations; and can explain why it worked.
Advertising and lead generation
You will develop campaigns across the full marketing ecosystem, including:
- Paid social and video
- Google and local search advertising
- Retargeting
- YouTube
- Connected television and streaming audio
- Outdoor, print, and community advertising
- Influencer and partnership campaigns
- Email, referral, and reputation initiatives
You will work with the firm’s leadership and specialized vendors where appropriate, but you will own the strategy, creative standard, brand consistency, execution, and results.
Measurement and optimization
You must care about more than likes, impressions, and attractive graphics.
You will establish reliable tracking and reporting for qualified leads, consultations, signed cases, lead sources, conversion rates, cost per acquisition, website behavior, campaign performance, reviews, and referral growth.
You should be able to look at the numbers, identify what is working, stop what is not, and confidently recommend where the next marketing dollar should go.
Community presence and reputation
Personal injury law is built on trust.
You will help Koussan Law become a visible and meaningful part of the community through original events, partnerships, educational initiatives, public-interest campaigns, local creators, media opportunities, and client-centered storytelling.
The goal is not publicity for publicity’s sake. The goal is to create work that people genuinely care about and remember.
You May Be the Right Person If…
You have a portfolio of original, high-caliber work across several disciplines, such as brand development, graphic design, video, motion graphics, digital campaigns, website design, advertising, and social content.
You possess genuine mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly:
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Premiere Pro
- After Effects
Experience with Lightroom, Audition, Acrobat, or related production tools is valuable. Surface-level familiarity is not enough. We are looking for someone who knows how to use professional tools to produce professional work.
You are also comfortable with modern website platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, or comparable systems. Familiarity with HTML/CSS, Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console, SEO, conversion optimization, call tracking, and marketing dashboards is strongly preferred.
You can write. You can recognize a powerful idea. You understand composition, pacing, typography, storytelling, emotion, persuasion, and the difference between something that is technically complete and something that is genuinely excellent.
You can take a project from a blank page to a polished final product.
You can move quickly without lowering your standards.
You are willing to test bold ideas, but you understand that legal advertising requires judgment, accuracy, dignity, privacy awareness, and ethical review.
You enjoy direct feedback, rapid iteration, and working closely with decision-makers.
You are resourceful enough to produce excellent work personally and experienced enough to know when a developer, media buyer, photographer, production crew, or other specialist will make the work stronger.
You likely have at least five years of meaningful creative or marketing experience, whether in-house, at an agency, independently, or through a combination of all three. However, your portfolio, judgment, and results matter more than your degree or job titles.
Prior law firm experience is helpful but not required. In fact, we welcome candidates who believe most legal advertising has become predictable; and are eager to show us what they would do differently.
This Role Is Not for You If…
You need several layers of approval before you can make progress.
You are uncomfortable being accountable for measurable outcomes.
You primarily rely on stock templates or outsourced vendors to do the actual creative work.
You believe social media activity alone constitutes a complete marketing strategy.
You want to preserve an established system rather than build something ambitious.
You are looking for a quiet maintenance role.
Why Koussan Law?
You will have direct access to firm leadership and the ability to turn strong ideas into real campaigns without navigating a maze of committees.
Your work will not disappear into an internal presentation. It will shape the firm’s reputation, growth, community presence, client experience, and future.
You will receive genuine ownership, professional tools, an appropriate operating budget, and access to specialized resources when the work calls for them.
As the function grows, you will have the opportunity to help build the team around you.
This is a portfolio-defining opportunity for someone who wants to look back several years from now and say:
“I helped build that brand.”
