Crystal Steel Fabricators, Inc., a prominent structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabricator, is looking for Material Handlers to work in the yard at our Memphis-area location (Crystal Steel Memphis).
Job Description:
Moves materials using carts, overhead cranes, forklifts, or other methods needed to ensure materials are delivered to required locations for fabrication and welding. Performs such work consistent with the company mission and values and produces a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining Quality and Safety procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position has been defined as one where the employee's responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers, and/or the public (in this case the end-user of our product). All production and production support positions fall into this category.
Requirements:
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening test
- Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics
- Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance with the ability to work overtime and weekends.
- Possess a strong sense of urgency.
- Can work independently and/or as a cooperative team player.
- Willingly take direction from supervisory personnel.
- Adhere to quality procedures and demonstrate strong safety awareness and prevention.
- Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
Essential Functions:
- Must be certified to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Must be able to rig properly.
- Perform duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash scrap removal, and other production related tasks.
- Support the Crystal Steel Lean Initiative through active engagement and participation in continuous process improvement projects based in Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Assist in the collection of data, participate in RIE workshops, and contribute to the implementation of solutions, replicate successful improvements, share lessons learned and provide feedback on opportunities for change that will further the continuous improvement process.
- Consistently exceed goals as communicated by supervision.
- Comply with Health and Safety, Environmental and Lean manufacturing policies, and procedures.
- Maintain. positive work atmosphere by functioning and communicating in an effective manner with co-workers, clients, and supervisors.
- Work in a safe and conscientious manner.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.25 per hour
