DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the reliable operation of electrical systems across the facility and responds quickly during emergency conditions. The work ensures safe, steady power to vital systems. As a High Voltage Electrician, you will perform the following duties:
- System Analysis: Evaluate electrical equipment and interpret instrument readings to identify conditions and make adjustments
- Emergency Response: Perform emergency cutouts, substitutions, and repairs while following strict safety procedures
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, repair, and calibrate control devices, generators, meters, and related components
- Power Distribution: Operate switchboard controls to manage power generation and distribution across multiple locations
- Technical Testing: Test cables, transformers, breakers, and motors using appropriate tools and procedures
- Field Operations: Install transformers, cables, and wiring; operate lift equipment; and travel between sites as needed
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- This is a 5 day per week, 16 hour per day operation subject to shift work. Work shifts are 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is essential and you will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of a High Voltage Electrician Training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of journey-level electrical experience, including eighteen months of experience in high voltage electrical work.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License which is not under suspension.
Condition of Employment:
- You must possess a valid Master Electrician License from the City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Additional Requirements:
- This position is located at 509 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA. You must be willing and able to report to this location daily for work.
- You must be willing and able to work different shifts.
- You must be able to work in confined spaces.
- You must have at least 18 months industrial/commercial style switchgear experience.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Possess computer/technologies experience in any of the following: Word, Excel, AIM work order, ESS system, smart phone, email
- Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck, or manlifts while following safety procedures
