Job Overview
We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks. The ideal candidate will be proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems (eCW preferred), medical billing, insurance verification, and possess excellent communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced medical environment.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage check-in and check-out processes using our EMR system.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verifications, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism
- Schedule patient appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage clinic calendars with precision
- Review and update medical records ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review procedures
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories using various EHR systems
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, perform data entry tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate
- Support medical administrative functions including office management tasks like filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless patient flow within the clinic setting
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards by safeguarding patient information during all interactions
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with strong clerical skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with eCW is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing processes
- Ability to verify insurance benefits including Medicare and other third-party payers accurately
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and active listening abilities
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry (10 key typing)
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience with ENT terminology is ideal
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices
- Exceptional organizational skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
