Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff during weekend shifts, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure optimal patient care delivery.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate effective discharge planning, medication administration, and treatment protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all state healthcare regulations, HIPAA privacy standards, and nursing policies across the facility.
- Manage clinical workflows including intake procedures, triage assessments, and medical record updates using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Conduct routine safety checks on medical equipment such as ventilators, IV infusion devices, catheters, and other critical care tools.
- Lead incident investigations and complete detailed reports for any adverse events or safety concerns during weekend hours.
Skills
- Extensive experience with Epic EMR systems and familiarity with EHR (Electronic Health Record) platforms like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Proven supervisory experience managing nursing teams within long-term care facilities or acute care settings such as ICU or trauma centers.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs measurement, physical examinations, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile processing.
- Competent in critical care procedures such as airway management, ventilator operation, tube feeding management, and CPR (Basic Life Support).
- Familiarity with state healthcare regulations governing long-term care regulations and nursing policy compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating managerial communication skills for supervising staff and managing care plans.
