Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify appointments, and assist with patient check-in procedures using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic.
- Collect patient information, update medical histories, and perform vital signs measurements in accordance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and accuracy.
- Assist eye doctors during examinations by preparing necessary instruments, maintaining aseptic techniques, and supporting clinical workflows.
- Manage patient records meticulously, including documentation of intake details, medical history, and ophthalmology-specific notes such as anatomy and physiology observations.
- Support optical store operations by engaging with customers through retail sales activities, applying retail math to manage inventory and sales transactions effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area, handle phone inquiries professionally, schedule appointments efficiently, and coordinate follow-up visits.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as medical coding and billing related to ophthalmology services and pediatrics when applicable.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology will enable you to support clinical staff effectively.
- Experience in retail sales or optical store operations is a plus; strong skills in retail math and customer service are beneficial.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Previous clinic experience involving intake procedures, vital signs collection, or pediatrics will help you excel in this role.
