Afterschool Youth Program/Activity Specialist
Required: Must be able to work at least two full afternoon shifts, from 2:30 - 6 PM
Weekday afternoon shifts range from 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm.
Average work schedule between 10 - 20 hours per week.

Strawberry Recreation District is looking for fun, qualified individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated, and responsible to coordinate and lead a combination of indoor and outdoor activities for kids after school, ages 4 - 11 yrs.
Youth Program Specialists actively engage with students by leading games, projects, and lessons, transitioning children between a multitude of activities.
We are looking for individuals who are creative, engaging, responsible, fun-loving, and self-motivated with the ability to keep up with 4-11 year-olds and think on their feet. Hours range from 2:15 - 6:00 Monday – Friday, 1:30pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesdays, some weekend, evening, and/or full day shifts for special activities, holiday camps and events.
Previous experience working with children and/or educational experience is highly desired. Background checks are required
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hr. depending on qualifications and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise and engage with children from ages 4-11 years-old during both structured and unstructured activities.
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities, games, projects, and lessons.
- Communicate openly and effectively with students, parents, staff and administration, as well as other Program Coordinators.
- Ensure the safety and emotional wellbeing of students.
- Respond to emergencies and injuries calmly and effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK AT LEAST TWO FULL AFTERNOON SHIFTS, FROM 2:30 - 6 PM.
Ability to:
- Confidently engage with and work with children.
- Effectively communicate with children in a calm and patient manner.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, patience, and enthusiasm.
- Observe children for signs of illness and/or injury.
- Enforce rules and boundaries when necessary.
- Climb up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.
Experience:
- At least one year experience in engaging with and supervising children in a recreational setting and/or academic background/experience in recreation, elementary or physical education, nature sciences, or related field.
Live Scan Background check required for employment.
