We are looking for a Dental Receptionist to help work and support our current front desk receptionist on a full time (minimum 32 hours per week) basis. Friendly, courteous, and reliability are inportant factors for successful applicants. Applicants with previous dental receptionist experience preferred. As a Dental Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our dental office when patients enter the building. Our Receptionist’s duties include offering administrative, clerical, and any other additional support needed within the dental office. You will welcome and greet patients who visit the practice. You will coordinate and organize appointments, as well as complete any administration tasks needed to facilitate the efficient running of the office. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. Ultimately, a Receptionist’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the front desk welcomes patients positively, and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients upon arrival to the office
- Register new patients
- Verify and update patient information including insurance
- Maintain and manage patient records in accordance with privacy and security policies
- Enter all patient information and forms into data software (office is digital and utilizes electronic health records)
- Inform patients of all dental office procedures and current safety protocols
- Move patients through appointments as scheduled
- Estimating and collecting payments at time of service,
- Explaining service costs and insurance coverage to patients
- Bill and collect insurance payments electronically
- Schedule patient appointments, finding replacements for cancellations and working in dental emergencies (Basic understanding of dental procedures for triaging is encouraged)
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Ensure reception area is clean and presentable
- Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
- Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role
- Proficiency in Dentrix or Similar Dental software (Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.) preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and diagnosis
- Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
- Working knowledge of Dental Insurance
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude
- High school degree; additional certification in Office Management is a plus
