Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Paraprofessional to join our dynamic educational team. Duties
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, behavioral challenges, or developmental disabilities.
- Support students with classroom activities by managing behavior, encouraging participation, and promoting positive interactions using behavior management techniques.
- Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate effective communication for students with speech or hearing impairments.
- Help with physical assistance for students requiring mobility support or other physical accommodations during daily routines and activities.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Support classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized environment that adheres to confidentiality standards and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, especially within special education or early childhood environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom support strategies tailored for students with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals who have autism spectrum disorders or behavioral disorders is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn is a plus.
- Strong communication and writing skills to document student progress and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, literacy education, basic math concepts, and classroom support tools.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive student information in accordance with privacy laws.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse learners, including toddlers and early childhood students requiring childcare support.
