Job Requirements:
- A Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) provider seeks NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA) /Certified Peer Specialists to function as members of an integrated and multidisciplinary team located in our Brooklyn clinic .. CRPA/Peer Specialists will assist with the outreach, support and coordination and will serve as a role model for clients who are working towards behavioral health and addiction recovery, willing to share their lived experiences.
Position Status: full time
Job Requirements:
- · Responsible to deliver trauma-informed, non-clinical services with a focus on recovery and rehabilitation from a behavioral health disorder
- · Facilitate engagement with participants by developing genuine relationships with participants and their supports by using empathy, sharing experiences, motivational interviewing, active listening, and collaborating on person-centered goal-development
- · Educate participants and family members on the domains of person-centered wellness and recovery
- · Identify community resources and encourage help-seeking behaviors
- · Participate in on-site and off-site activities with participants
- · Responsible for crisis intervention and incident reporting procedures
- · Act as a role model and coach for participants
- · Provide services to participants to address housing, income support, education and vocational training, social supports, employment, recovery supports, primary care needs and psychiatric rehabilitation programs
- · Assist participants with identifying and sustaining coping techniques and self-help strategies
- · Provide individual peer support and wellness counseling
- · Act as an advocate and liaison for participants for access to supports
- · Escort participants as needed to various appointments via Public Transportation
- · Conduct follow-up via telephone outreach, visits and or certified letters
- · Ensure documentation are completed within electronic medical record in a timely fashion
- · File various information into the client's individual record
- · Attend staff meetings and other meetings as directed by supervisor(s)
- · Participate in OMH/ NHCC approved Orientations and Training
- · This does not limit the assignment of duties or exclude the performance of other duties not mentioned, as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements:
- · High school diploma or equivalency diploma required
- · Currently certified by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board
- · Ability to work under strict confidentiality with an ability to be receptive of feedback and supervision for growth and development
- · Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- · Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
- · Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
- · A Certified Peer Specialist with CASAC is a plus
- · Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically
- · Travel Requirements – potential accompaniment of individuals via transportation services/public transportation.
Full time: Monday to Friday 9AM to 5PM or 10AM to 6PM with possibility of including a weekend day.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
