Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, managing patient care, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Provide excellent pet care by monitoring animal behavior, health status, and vital signs.
- Maintain cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas to promote a hygienic environment.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with the team and clients.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and processing results.
- Implement proper animal restraint techniques during examinations and treatments.
- Review prescribed medication, products, and diets
- Keep exam rooms stocked and orderly
- Assist LVT during surgical and dental procedures
Qualifications
- Experience in animal husbandry and pet care is preferred.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is beneficial for effective communication within the practice.
- Basic understanding of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is advantageous.
- Ability to perform animal restraint techniques is required.
- Experience with blood draws is a preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential.
