The Garbage Collection Helper works alongside the route driver to collect residential and commercial waste safely and efficiently. This position requires working outdoors, performing physical labor, and providing excellent service to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with residential and commercial garbage collection routes.
- Collect and load waste, recycling, and other approved materials into collection vehicles.
- Return containers to designated locations after service.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Report safety concerns, damaged containers, or route issues to the driver or supervisor.
- Provide courteous and professional service to customers.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy containers repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous labor, sanitation, landscaping, is a plus but not required.

Summary
As a Garbage Truck Helper, you will support the daily operation of waste collection services, working closely with a driver and team to ensure timely pickup and safe handling of materials. You will contribute to route efficiency through skilled loading and unloading, maneuvering heavy loads, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Your hands-on mechanical awareness and readiness for outdoor, physical work support fleet operations and customer service on service days. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability in sanitation and waste management operations.
