Responsible for the set-up and operation of conventional and CNC machines to support machining of production parts, prototypes, and/or fixtures for increased productivity. Machine parts to comply with company quality, productivity, and safety standards as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets-up machine jobs from existing fixtures or verbal instructions.
- Edit work- and tool offset.
- Program and operate CNC machines and manual machines.
- Run production jobs according to company quality standards ad procedures.
- Perform first piece inspections to comply with specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Fill out required job paperwork accurately.
- Move finished parts to move location in a timely fashion.
- Assists in maintaining department safety, organization, and housekeeping per company policy.
- Identify and provides input for process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Use safe machining practices.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance functions within the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Certificate from Vocational School preferred but may be waived in lieu of experience
- Minimum 2 years in Machine shop
- Programming in FANUC or similar an advantage but not necessary
- Ability to read machine drawings, follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledgeable of all applicable safety processes and related to machining
- Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gauge, etc.
- Knowledge of basic machine principles
- Proficient math skills
