Charleston Vision Source, a privately-owned primary eye care facility, has a permanent, full time position available. Primary responsibilities are to assist the optometrists with testing and procedures that provide the doctor with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively and have strong organizational skills.
- Skilled with computer data entry
- Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories.
- Performing a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to visual acuity, basic motility, visual fields, corneal topography, autorefraction, OCT retinal scans, Optomap retinal imaging and fundus photography.
- Assist the physician during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation sterile preparations and documentation.
- Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the provider for testing or treatment.
- Prepare and position patient for diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Assist the physician with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.
- Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction
- Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare procedure and exam rooms; inventory equipment and supplies; replenish supplies and equipment.
- Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
- Adhere to employer work practices as described in the Employee Handbook
- Work as a team member within the ophthalmic assistant department and all other departments.
- Document work processes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
