American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of oncology and PCU experience with ACLS and BLS certifications.

Acute care setting within a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology unit at a Level I Trauma Center
-
28-bed mixed unit caring for oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients
-
Day shift, 12-hour shifts (7a–7p)

Every other weekend required

Self-scheduling unit
-
Daytime ratios: 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (Med/Surg); nighttime ratios: 1:5–6
-
Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem
-
EMR: Epic (recent experience within 6 months is noted for orientation planning purposes)

IV pumps: Alaris
-
Floating required to same level of care (Med/Surg and PCU units)

2-day orientation provided

13-week contract
-
Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required; pending certifications not accepted

ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification preferred but not required

Minimum 1 year of oncology and PCU nursing experience required
-
Competency with hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000), ventilator management, and ICP monitoring (on-the-job training available for these)

Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address for radius eligibility)

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass
-
RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration

Navy blue scrubs required

Unit support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
