Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Commercial Electrician to join our dynamic team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems within commercial environments, ensuring all work complies with safety standards and local electrical codes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems, demonstrating proficiency in reading electrical schematics, wiring high-voltage systems, and adhering to NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association) standards. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, including new installations, renovations, and system upgrades across various commercial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in commercial settings
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately
- Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot complex electrical systems efficiently
- Perform high-voltage electrical wiring and ensure proper grounding and safety procedures are followed
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and local electrical codes
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure timely project completion
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to execute installation and repair tasks
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for compliance and future reference
- Follow all electrical safety procedures rigorously to prevent accidents or hazards
- Assist in training junior electricians or apprentices as needed
Requirements:
- Proven industrial electrician experience with a strong background in commercial electrical systems
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC (National Electrical Code), and local electrical codes
- Experience working on high-voltage electrical wiring projects within industrial or commercial environments
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams accurately
- Proficiency with electrical wiring techniques for low voltage and high voltage systems
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and compliance standards
- Construction site experience including renovation projects is highly desirable
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and power equipment safely
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues promptly
- Valid electrician license or certification as required by local regulations
