Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Aide to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, promote their well-being, and ensure a safe, comfortable, and engaging living experience. Your positive attitude and attentive nature will help foster a warm community where residents feel valued and cared for every day.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track residents’ health status
- Provide medication administration following prescribed schedules and protocols, ensuring accuracy and safety at all times
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s by implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques to promote safety and comfort
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and assist residents during meal times to encourage independence and social interaction
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control procedures
- Document resident care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate effectively with healthcare team members about resident needs
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR certification is preferred
- Experience assisting with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential
- Strong understanding of long-term care practices, resident rights, and safety protocols
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties if required for resident outings or appointments
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience for working with seniors or individuals with disabilities
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, transferring residents safely, and standing for extended periods
