Job description:
Pierce County Alliance has one full-time Peer Counselor position available. The Peer Counselor will work with a team to strengthen safety, permanency, and well-being for children by engaging families affected by substance use disorders and moving them through the process of recovery. Lived experience uniquely qualifies a person to assist the SUDP counselor and help navigate community resources needed for SUD recovery. The Peer Counselor focuses on engagement and retention of participants in the program to improve success. The Peer Counselor shall work with SUD Counselors and other members of the court therapeutic team in support of the parent’s recovery and reunification with his/her child(ren), as directed.
Requirements:
Lived experience with recovery is preferred and you must have your Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification. Must have no history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of five (5) years immediately prior to the time of employment. Must be 21 or older, High School Diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, must meet policy criteria regarding driver’s abstract and car insurance with a dependable vehicle. Must pass a criminal background check and a urinalysis test.
Minimum Qualifications:
SUDPT license is strongly preferred. Possess knowledge of community resources and programs for adults and children, have a basic understanding of a team or multi-disciplinary approach, possess the ability to work with racial and ethnically diverse groups and populations, and possess the ability to communicate information appropriately
Pay: Up to $62,000.00 per year
