American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR OR Float Pool position at a large academic Level 1 trauma center, requiring a minimum of 2 years CVOR experience, prior travel experience, and the ability to both scrub and circulate cardiac surgeries.

Work setting is a large 1,000+ bed academic Level 1 trauma hospital with a 56-bed OR (inpatient and outpatient) and 5 procedural rooms

Assigned to the OR Float Pool with a CVOR specialty focus; floating between OR rooms within the same location is possible

Patient population includes complex CABG, valve and repeat cardiac procedures, heart failure, ECMO, VAD, heart and lung transplant, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE), cardiac trauma, and adult congenital cases

Adult patients only; pediatric cardiac OR is a separate facility

Schedule is 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p), Monday through Friday, with daily assignments varying based on unit need — block scheduling is not available

On-call is required for all travelers in cardiac surgery, with 3 layers of call coverage 24/7; call requirements rotate on a 6-week cycle

Standard schedule consists of 3x 12-hour shifts per week plus call obligations

Active RN license — Tennessee (TN) or Compact license required

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of CVOR OR experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Must be able to both scrub and circulate cardiac surgeries

Experience with complex cardiac cases (CABG, valve, ECMO, VAD, transplant) strongly preferred

Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating on complex cardiac surgical cases including transplants, ECMO, and VAD procedures

This is a high-acuity academic teaching environment with a broad and complex cardiac surgery caseload

Travelers must be available for on-call responsibilities beyond their standard shift schedule, with call requirements changing every 6 weeks

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position — prior travel experience is required
