Curriculum Coordinator
The job of Curriculum Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of researching, developing, and implementing new and revised curricular materials in the areas of math and English Language Arts; providing leadership, coaching, and professional development specific to school leadership teams and instructional coaches; and ensuring that all classrooms are places where students’ critical thinking skills are developed in these subject areas as they are presented with challenging curricular text, tasks, and learning.
This job reports to Chief Academic Officer
Coaches school leadership teams and instructional coaches on the use of data, including student work, for the purpose of identifying next steps for student academic growth and success.
Collaborates with others (e.g. district personnel, other district personnel, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Models an eagerness to receive and implement feedback for the purpose of continuously improving teaching practices, enhancing professional growth, and maximizing student learning outcomes through a collaborative and reflective approach to professional development.
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports for the purpose of ensuring ongoing funding by complying with network and/or grant program requirements.
Presents information to District and Community groups (e.g. program offerings, participation levels, etc.) for the purpose of promoting program, gaining feedback, and complying with established internal controls.
Provides coaching by instruction, co-teaching, and modeling for the school leadership teams and instructional coaches for the purpose of improving teacher practice through cycles of observation and feedback.
Researches, innovative techniques/approaches to facilitate learning and pedagogy associated with the assigned learning areas for the purpose of enhancing instructional effectiveness, promoting student engagement, and staying abreast of best practices.
Supervises development and facilitation of professional learning for leadership teams and instructional coaches for the purpose of raising the level of instructional performance and student achievement.
Supports development of mathematics- and/or literacy-focused community engagement programming and extracurricular activities for the purpose of fostering a culture of lifelong learning, promoting academic enrichment beyond the classroom, and strengthening community partnerships.
Uses data consistently (e.g. assessment, student growth, etc.) for the purpose of informing strategic decision making.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the area of teaching and learning.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; analyzing data; applying curriculum and instructional techniques; classifying data and/or information; comparing results; and conducting meetings.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; grant administration; community resources; district policies and procedures; issues relating to at-risk youth; and methods of instruction and training.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
