Cashier
Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling transactions accurately, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. This role requires knowledge of merchandising practices and familiarity with products such as beer and wine to assist customers effectively. The Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers while supporting the overall operations of the store.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, courteous service at the checkout counter
- Accurately process sales transactions using the point-of-sale system
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments securely and efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of current promotions, discounts, and store policies
- Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking shelves and organizing displays
- Provide product information to customers, especially regarding beer and wine selections
- Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift
- Address customer inquiries or concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies to ensure a safe shopping environment
Requirements
- Previous experience as a cashier or in retail/customer service is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
- Knowledge of merchandising practices and familiarity with beer and wine products
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks efficiently
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and record keeping
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
