Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process customer transactions accurately and swiftly
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing registers at shift end
- Upsell products and promote ongoing sales or promotions to enhance the shopping experience
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits
- Restock shelves, merchandise displays, and organize products to maintain an attractive store layout
- Maintain phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or via online inquiries
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging products appealingly and ensuring stock levels are adequate for busy hours
Experience
- Prior cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially in overseeing team members during shifts or training new staff
- Bilingual skills are highly valued to serve our diverse customer base effectively
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain product features and handle customer concerns professionally
- Basic math skills for handling transactions, giving correct change, and performing retail math calculations accurately
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail sales processes is advantageous
- Experience with merchandising, stocking, and product demos will help you excel in this role
