Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and other mechanical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and fluid checks to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
- Repair or replace faulty components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical repair techniques.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot complex automotive electrical systems and mechanical issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations during all maintenance activities by following proper manual handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, parts used, and service history for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Support the team in adhering to maintenance schedules for fleet vehicles to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines and automotive systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and automotive electrical systems.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance, mechanical systems repair, and troubleshooting using schematics.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while working in various positions or environments.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy machinery maintenance and repair operations (MRO).
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with internal teams or external clients regarding vehicle issues.
- Prior experience as a diesel mechanic or in automotive service is highly desirable for success in this role.
