Teacher’s Aide – Part-Time Position

Ages Served: 2–4 years
Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays | 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM (18 hours/week)
Compensation: $8,000 per school year (September–mid-May)
About Us
The Learning Tree is a ministry of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma, offering a 15-hour weekly preschool program for children ages 2–4. Rooted in the church’s mission “to reach people for Christ and develop deeply committed Christians,” The Learning Tree nurtures young children through play, discovery, and faith-based education in a loving and intentional environment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate Teacher’s Aide to support our lead teachers in the classroom for the first half of the school day. This part-time role is perfect for someone who loves working with young children and feels called to serve in a joyful, Christ-centered setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher with daily lessons, bathroom breaks, and activities
- Provide attentive care and support during learning, play, meals, and transitions
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Support classroom setup, cleanup, and preparation of materials
- Observe and assist with children’s individual needs under teacher guidance
- Model positive behavior, cooperation, and kindness
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Uphold and support the mission and values of St. Paul United Methodist Church
Qualifications
- Experience with young children preferred (but not required)
- Warm, flexible, and nurturing personality
- Able to follow direction and work collaboratively with teaching staff
- Eagerness to learn about child development and classroom best practices
- Reliable and responsible
- Must complete a background check and child safety training before employment
Work Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM (6 hours/day)
- 1 hour of materials prep and 5 hours of classroom support
Work Environment
As a key part of a church-based preschool, the Teacher’s Aide helps create a developmentally appropriate, grace-filled environment where children are loved, taught, and encouraged to grow. This role directly supports both the educational and faith-based mission of The Learning Tree and St. Paul UMC.
