Tree Town Preschool is looking for a loving, energetic, dependable, and teachable Two-Year-Old Preschool Teacher to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with toddlers and wants to grow as an early childhood educator. Extensive preschool experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person who has patience, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a sincere desire to learn our holistic, hands-on teaching methodology.

About the Two-Year-Old Classroom
Two-year-olds are curious, active, emotional, and eager to explore. They need a teacher who understands that learning at this age happens through movement, repetition, sensory experiences, songs, play, conversation, and consistent routines.
The ideal teacher will be able to provide warmth and comfort while also creating clear expectations, encouraging independence, and actively teaching throughout the day.
This is not a position for someone who wants to sit and simply watch children play. We are looking for a teacher who will get on the children’s level, talk with them, model language, lead activities, support transitions, and turn everyday moments into opportunities for learning.

Primary Responsibilities
- Create a safe, nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Build trusting relationships with children and help them feel secure
- Lead short, age-appropriate circle times, songs, stories, movement activities, and hands-on lessons
- Prepare and facilitate three learning stations based on the weekly theme and subject area
- Provide one teacher-led station while supervising and supporting independent exploration
- Introduce early vocabulary through conversation, repetition, books, songs, and play
- Support early language development by naming objects, actions, feelings, colors, shapes, numbers, and classroom experiences
- Encourage children to communicate their needs using words, gestures, and appropriate classroom language
- Help children develop independence with eating, handwashing, cleaning up, transitions, and personal belongings
- Support toilet-learning routines in partnership with families and leadership
- Change diapers and assist with toileting while following health, safety, and sanitation procedures
- Redirect hitting, biting, pushing, throwing, and other challenging behaviors calmly and consistently
- Teach safe hands, personal space, turn-taking, sharing, and simple problem-solving skills
- Maintain active supervision during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, nap time, and transitions
- Follow Tree Town’s classroom rotation model, lesson plans, daily schedule, and curriculum expectations
- Prepare materials during designated planning time rather than while children are waiting
- Maintain an organized, clean, attractive, and developmentally appropriate classroom
- Observe children’s progress and communicate important information to leadership
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with families and coworkers
- Follow all Texas childcare licensing, health, safety, and supervision requirements
What Teaching Two-Year-Olds Looks Like at Tree Town
A Tree Town teacher does not simply place materials on a table and watch.
Our teachers:
- Model how to use the materials
- Introduce simple learning objectives
- Ask age-appropriate questions
- Repeat important vocabulary
- Encourage children to touch, move, build, sort, match, count, identify, and explore
- Adjust activities when children lose interest
- Use songs and movement to make transitions successful
- Help children connect play with real learning
- Celebrate small developmental milestones
- Provide guidance without expecting toddlers to behave like older children
Examples may include:
- Counting blocks while building a tower
- Identifying colors while sorting objects
- Naming body parts during songs and movement
- Comparing big and small items
- Practicing animal sounds and vocabulary
- Exploring textures during sensory activities
- Strengthening fine-motor skills through safe hands-on materials
- Encouraging children to use words such as “help,” “more,” “my turn,” and “all done”
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience with toddlers, childcare, babysitting, preschool, or early childhood education is preferred but not required
- Must be willing to complete required childcare training and professional development
- Must be able to pass all required background checks
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Must be able to lift and carry children when necessary
- Must be able to sit on the floor, bend, stand, walk, and remain physically active throughout the day
- Must be comfortable changing diapers, assisting with toileting, cleaning, and supporting mealtime routines
- Must have reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus, but not required
