Position Summary:
Instructional Coaches serve as school leaders focused on supporting teachers and instructional leaders to deliver rigorous and engaging academic experiences for our scholars, which leads to exceptional academic gains. Instructional Coaches play a central role in the success of their school and work closely with the building principal as well as fellow Instructional Coaches across OKCPS to drive curriculum and assessment, data-driven instruction, and feedback for teacher development.
Essential Duties:
Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):
Focus: Curriculum, instruction, data-driven teaching, and student outcomes

Collaborate with general, ELL, and special education teachers, MTSS Specialists, and other student support staff to leverage the ability of OKCPS teachers to maximize students' academic development when integrating the district's instructional resources.

Collaborate with teachers using district resources to design lessons and units that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with state standards and district curriculum maps.

Conducts deep analysis of disaggregated data for each student subgroup or special population and supports teachers in facilitating this analysis during PLCs.

Supports the administrator and instructional leadership team in identifying the strengths and areas of growth needed for students, teachers, and the school community.

Guides teachers to analyze student background knowledge, preferred learning modalities, and developmental readiness to differentiate instruction and revise plans according to multiple data sources.

Focus differentiated coaching with teachers through district priorities, ensuring all coaching is aimed at student achievement targets in the OKCPS Goals and Guardrails.

Execute a fully defined coaching cycle, aligned with OKCPS Goals and Guardrails, with targeted feedback and coaching action plans.

Models and monitors research based instructional strategies and observes classroom teachers to better support them in the implementation of the TLE Evaluation Rubric, use of Oklahoma Academic Standards, and use of curriculum resources provided by the district.

In addition to observation and modeling, coaches should conduct planning conferences and debriefing sessions as necessary

Utilize multiple coaching strategies, including Bambrick, Sweeney, and Knight.

Coordinates with the district and colleagues to facilitate opportunities for teachers to observe their peers

Supports certified teaching staff in implementing, monitoring, reflecting on, and adjusting research based instructional strategies to ensure the needs of students are being met.

Design PD based on school data, the Site 90 Day Plan, and District initiatives that provide teachers with resources and skills needed for immediate implementation.

Offer PD at various times using various modes (face-to-face and digital) with a clear plan for follow-through with teachers.

Conducts meetings at least monthly in support of the needs of new teachers on campus.

Participate in at least one peer coaching cycle per semester to update content knowledge and reflect on personal coaching strengths and weaknesses.

Attends professional development as required for all instructional coaches. Attends all site and district-level professional development and PLC meetings as assigned by the principal.

Seek out district training sessions, specialists, conferences, and professional organizations to bring new strategies back to the school site and model them in practice.

Data Tracking & Documentation: Maintain and completely document every teacher interaction daily in theIC Tracker and IC Calendar, using this data to reflect on and improve coaching practice.

PD and PLC Tracking: Record all facilitated site-based professional development and attended PLCs, including agendas and next steps, in the tracker's designated logs.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of district goals and accountability structures.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):

Bachelors' Degree
-
Five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.

Current Oklahoma Teaching certificate:
-
ELEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS: Elementary Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Early Childhood, or Elementary Certification.
-
SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS: Secondary English/Language Arts, Reading Specialist, Secondary Social Studies, Secondary Science, Secondary Math, or Advanced Mathematics certification. • Experience in planning and monitoring campus-wide instructional programs.

Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience leading teachers in the area of instructional delivery across the curriculum.
-
Outstanding communication facilitation skills.
-
Interpersonal skills suited to provide advice and mentoring to teachers and administrators. • Knowledge of effective instructional practices for English Language Learners, students with disabilities and gifted and talented students.

Experience in providing support to campuses in the areas of classroom-technology integration, parental involvement, school wide needs assessments, and analyzing data using large-scale, benchmark, and embedded assessments.
Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.

Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.

Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.

Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, reach and climb stairs.

Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.

Sitting for prolonged periods of time.

May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Compensation: Schedule 001 + $6000 stipend
