Seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, LPC, LPCC, QMHP) for a full-time role within a correctional facility in Baldwin County, Alabama. You will play a crucial role in providing mental health services to incarcerated individuals with diverse psychological needs. This position requires a strong commitment to addressing mental health and social issues within a correctional setting and complying with the relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings, diagnostic assessments, and treatment planning.
- Deliver evidence‑based individual and group counseling; document progress and outcomes in the EHR.
- Perform suicide risk assessments; implement, monitor, and document suicide‑prevention/watch protocols.
- Provide crisis intervention, de‑escalation, and stabilization; coordinate emergent referrals.
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, custody, and administration in multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation; comply with HIPAA, facility, and contractual standards.
- Participate in intake, housing/classification reviews, and special needs referral processes.
- Coordinate discharge/reentry planning; link patients to community mental health/substance use services.
- Support quality improvement, training, and audit/compliance activities.
Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in counseling or a related mental health field from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure.
- Experience in providing mental health counseling services, preferably in a correctional or similar environment.
- Knowledge of correctional mental health principles, risk assessment, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with social services and resources available to support inmates' reintegration.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a challenging and dynamic environment.
- Strong communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of relevant state laws and regulations concerning mental health services in correctional facilities.
