Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including gathering medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support clinical procedures by preparing patients for examinations, administering medications as directed, and assisting with procedures like X-ray imaging or minor surgical interventions.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters, ICD coding for diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Conduct basic life support (BLS) when necessary and respond promptly to emergency situations within hospital or outpatient settings.
- Perform in-depth patient service activities such as answering questions, providing education on treatment plans, and ensuring comfort during visits.
- Support inpatient and outpatient care across various departments including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), geriatrics, medical-surgical units, and Level I & II trauma centers.
- Assist with procedures requiring OR (Operating Room) experience or emergency medicine expertise; support medication administration under supervision.
- Operate diagnostic equipment like X-ray machines when trained and certified; support hospital staff with vital signs collection during Level I trauma center shifts or hospital medicine rotations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Experience working within hospital environments—preferably Level I or Level II trauma centers—and familiarity with inpatient care processes.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or radiology are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to handle diverse responsibilities including intake procedures, vital sign measurement, EHR documentation, and patient service excellence.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical practices and clinic operations; experience supporting geriatrics or PICU patients is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency or urgent care settings.
