Victoria Venues is a banquet, events, and catering company - think weddings, quinceañeras, corporate parties. We have two locations where the majority of the events occur, one in Mt. Prospect and one in Northbrook. We do off-premise catering and events as well. Our 'commissary' is at our Mt. Prospect location.
Kitchen Manager
Victoria Venues is hiring a Kitchen Manager to run the day to day operations of our kitchen. This is a management role first and a cooking role second. Our menus are established and recipe development is handled in house, so we are not looking for someone to reinvent the food. We are looking for someone who can run a tight, organized kitchen and make sure every plate that leaves the line is correct.
What you'll do
- Build and manage kitchen schedules, including staffing up for large events and banquets
- Own inventory, ordering, and vendor communication, and keep par levels honest
- Supervise prep and service, holding the line on portioning, plating, and timing
- Run the pass during events to keep our team on schedule
- Enforce sanitation, food safety, and health code standards
- Manage waste, yields, and food cost against targets
- Train and develop cooks, and hold the team to consistent standards
- Work the line when volume or staffing calls for it
What we're looking for
- Several years in a kitchen leadership role, ideally in banquets, catering, or high volume event service
- Strong cooking fundamentals. You should be able to jump on any station and hold your own
- Genuinely organized. Comfortable with spreadsheets, ordering systems, and prep lists
- Calm under pressure with 300 plates going out at once
- Clear communicator who can direct a team without drama
- ServSafe certified or willing to get certified
- Available nights and weekends, since that's when events happen
What we offer
Competitive salary, health benefits, paid time off.
Events are mostly on weekends - Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We have a meeting on Tuesday, and orders come in on Wednesdays. But otherwise the early weekday is quite flexible. Summers are quite busy, but winter slows down and you will have a more relaxed schedule.
Most of our kitchen staff speak Spanish, so fluency in Spanish is preferred.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
